What Will Kids Do at the Workshop?

Kids will build a wooden craft project using pre-cut and pre-drilled materials. This free hands-on learning experience encourages skill-building and creativity in children like following step-by-step instructions and working with hand tools like a hammer.

The workshop is hosted by your local DIY-U by Lowe’s captain who will assist participants.

Kids will also earn a collectible badge with each project, which can be attached to their apron as part of the Builder Recognition program.

This program is similar to the Home Depot FREE Kids Workshop. Make sure to also register for those.

Can we attend Multiple Workshops?

As long as you register and there is availability, you and up to 4 children can attend a workshop as often as you’d like. Lowe’s will reward your kids with Builder Recognition for completing multiple workshops.

  • After collecting six eligible badges before the program end date, your local DIY-U by Lowe’s captain will award your mini-builder with a limited-edition Junior Builder badge and card.
  • Once a Junior Builder completes six more workshops (12 total), they can graduate to Senior Builder via Lowes.com/SrBuilder. Senior Builders will get a FREE tool bag.

Monthly badges are awarded during workshops, and participants must keep their physical badges to receive recognition.

Frequently Ask Questions:

What age group is the workshop suitable for?

The Lowe’s Kids Workshop is designed for children ages 4 and up. Each MyLowe’s Rewards member can register and bring up to four children to each workshop. Ensure you select the same store and time slot for all of your children. Capacity is limited and varies by store, so registering early is recommended.

Do I need to bring my tools and materials?

No, all tools and materials will be provided by Home Depot but do arrive early as materials and kits can run out even if you registered. Besides the project kit, kids will also be provided with an apron & safety goggles that they should bring in every class (if they attend again), and a badge after they have completed their project.

Can parents attend the workshop with their children?

Parents or guardians should accompany their child/ren to help them complete the workshop as they will be using tools to complete their project.

Only members who have registered are guaranteed a spot, and participation is only guaranteed at the store for the time and number of mini-builders on your ticket.

How long does the workshop take?

The kits vary by design and skill level, but on average, they take approximately 20 to 30 minutes to build.

Our Experience at Lowe’s Kids Workshop

When our oldest was still little (a decade ago), we took her to Lowe’s for the FREE Kids Workshop. At the time, the program was called Build and Grow, and she made a Gingerbread House. She still has that wooden craft today. Back then, she used it to store rocks she collected from our travels, and later it became a container for her Pokémon cards. It’s a wonderful keepsake and a cherished memory we keep. Look at those tiny hands!!!
